Before you start
- About 12 minutes, with no timer. There are 54 questions. Take as long as you need, and answer from first reaction.
- There is no pass mark.Answer as you are. We check for inattention and offer a free retry when a sitting cannot be scored honestly.
- Your result is private. We ask for your email after the sitting to send the private result link. We do not sell it, and marketing is a separate opt-in.
What it costs, and when
Nothing, for now. The sitting, your result and the full report are all free while we are in soft launch. Planned pricing is $29.99 once for the complete report, or $5.99 for a 14-day membership introduction followed by $24.99 a month. Both choices are stated here before you start.
You should be 18 or over. This is an estimate for insight and development, not a clinical or diagnostic assessment.

Why careful answers matter
-
There is no good score
Nothing here is a pass mark. A high figure on one facet and a low one on another is the normal result, and it is more useful to you than a flat profile would be.
-
Answer as you are, not as you would like to be
A report built from the answers you wish were true describes a person who does not exist, and it will give you advice for them instead of you.
-
We check for inattention
Two questions ask you to pick a specific answer, and we look for long runs of identical responses. If either trips we tell you and offer a free retake.
The measurement, in the open
The things a score should tell you, and most of them do not. Every figure here is traced to this instrument, a published research estimate or a stated assumption, and the weakest part is named rather than left out. The full working is on the method page.
-
5facets
Scored on their own
Each facet comes from 8 statements, 5 keyed one way and 3 the other, so a straight run of the same answer shows up instead of quietly scoring.
-
±9points
A margin on every figure
The figure on each facet is an estimate, with about 9 points of margin either way. We print that margin rather than imply a precision the test does not have.
-
13to count
A higher bar for change
A reassessment calls a change real only past 13 points, the reliable-change bound, not the 9-point margin on a single reading.
-
.90assumed
Reliability, stated as an assumption
The margins rest on an assumed facet reliability of .90, held until enough sittings exist to measure it for real. Every figure that leans on it says so.
-
.14research estimate
Two tracks, never merged
Published research estimates that self-report and performance measures correlate at about .14. This is not an observed result from Emotiscale data, so the tracks stay separate.
-
12situations
Where this is weakest
The answer key for the situational section was written by the authors and has not yet been checked by an independent panel. Until it has, treat the situational band as the softer of your two results.
-
1,000sittings
No percentile yet
We will not compute a percentile until 1,000 quality-passing sittings exist, and then it is a percentile of test-takers here, never of the population.
