The norm sample

What we can honestly say about where you stand, and what we cannot say yet.

Where this stands today

Completed, quality-passing sittings: 0.

That is fewer than the 1,000 we set as the minimum, so your report does not show a percentile. It would be trivial to compute one and print it. It would also be meaningless, and a number that looks precise is worse than no number at all.

Retests and sittings that failed a quality gate are excluded from this count, so the same person taking it three times does not count as three people.

What this sample is

People who found this site and chose to take an emotional intelligence test. That is a self-selected internet sample, not a census and not a representative panel. It skews towards people who are interested enough in the subject to look for it.

If the score you are trying to place came from a different test on a different scale, the score-interpretation pages translate each of the common ones.

Any percentile derived from it means "compared with the people who took this test". We will keep saying it in exactly those words, because the alternative phrasing quietly implies something we have not measured.

The thresholds we hold ourselves to

  • 1,000 sittings before any percentile appears.
  • 5,000 before quoting one to the nearest point.
  • 1,000 per group before publishing any breakdown by age, sex or anything else. Below that a subgroup norm is noise with a label on it.

Versioning

The current norm version is v0-preview. Results and certificates carry the version they were produced under. When the norms change, old certificates keep meaning what they meant when they were issued.
