Questions and answers

Including the ones with awkward answers.

Is this a real test or a quiz?

It is a questionnaire with a published method, stated reliability assumptions, a margin of error on every figure and a separate scored situational section. It is not a clinical instrument and we never call it one. The method is here, including the parts that are currently weak.

What do I get for free?

Your band, the order of your five facets, each facet’s level, one facet explained in full, and your situational band. The exact figures and their margins, situation by situation breakdown and practical recommendations are in the paid report. The membership additionally includes the timed programme and reassessments.

What does it cost, really?

$29.99 once for the complete report, practical recommendations and certificate. Or $5.99 today for a 14-day membership introduction, then $24.99 a month unless you cancel first. We email you the amount and date at least seven days before that first monthly charge. Cancelling is one click. Full pricing.

How do I cancel?

One click, from the link in any email we send you or from your membership page. There is no retention flow and nobody will try to talk you out of it. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Why is there no single EQ score?

Because published research estimates that self-report and performance measures of emotional intelligence correlate at about .14. That is a literature estimate, not an Emotiscale result. Averaging the tracks would assert they are the same thing, so you get both kept apart.

Why is there no percentile?

Until we have 1,000 quality-passing sittings there is nothing honest to compare you against. The current count is here, and it updates itself.

How do I know whether to trust an EQ test?

Four checkable questions: is the method published, are margins stated, is the norm sample described, and are self-report and performance kept apart rather than averaged? The choosing page walks through all four, and we answer each of them about our own test in the open.

Can I improve my emotional intelligence?

The evidence says yes, and says the effect is moderate rather than dramatic. Anyone promising a big jump quickly is selling something. The report includes practical recommendations built from your two lowest facets. Membership adds the timed 12-week programme and reassessment.

Is my data private?

Your result is at a private link. We use your email to send that result and, if you buy, your receipt and the pre-renewal notice. We do not sell it, and marketing email is a separate unticked opt-in. We remove the link between you and your answers after 24 months, and the answers stay in the anonymous norm sample. The privacy notice has the detail.

Do you use my webcam or read my face?

No, and we never will. Reading a person’s own face or voice for emotion is a prohibited practice in workplace and education settings under the EU AI Act, outside narrow medical and safety uses, and the validated image sets are not licensed for commercial use in any case.
