What EQ test questions look like

Format one: frequency self-report

A statement about behaviour, answered on a frequency scale. An invented example, not from the live test:

“I can tell my mood has shifted before anyone around me mentions it.” answered from almost never to almost always.

Frequency anchors are a deliberate choice over agreement anchors. Asking how often something happens tends to be less self-flattering than asking whether you agree you are good at it. The format's limit is built in: it measures how you describe yourself, which is real information and is not the same as how you behave.

Format two: situational judgement

A short scene, then a choice between responses that are scored for effectiveness. An invented example, not from the live test:

“A colleague reads a short, blunt message from their manager and goes quiet for the rest of the meeting.” followed by four things you might do next, one of which handles it best.

This format measures something the first cannot: what you would choose, not what you say about yourself. The two barely correlate, which is why a test needs both and must not average them.

What ours asks

40 frequency items across five facets, 12 situational judgement items, and 2 attention checks that catch a rushed sitting, part of designing for an unsupervised format. The live items stay off the marketing pages on purpose: an item you have already read with the scoring in mind stops measuring what it was built to measure. The test itself is free to take.
